The Bald Soprano

Our community production this year will be The Bald Soprano by Eugène Ionesco.

The characters and their dialogue don’t seem to make any sense – it’s so FUNNY – just like in real life!

In almost 40 years of existence, La Troupe du Jour has only produced one play from the absurd theatre canon (Waiting for Godot, 1997).

Ionesco is one of the most important playwrights of the 20th century and the production of his seminal play has been long awaited.

Furthermore, this style of theatre was one of the late Ian C. Nelson‘s favourites. Ian contributed greatly to the development of La Troupe and also led the Writers’ Circle for many years. This production will be dedicated to his memory.

This play has a duration of approximately 70 minutes, without an intermission.
